Can Hypnotherapy Really Help With Weight Loss..?

“So do they just fling some pixie dust and I will start getting slimmer?”

 

Anyone reading this is likely to have seen some of the reviews that our clients have left but you might have some lingering questions, like… “How does that work?” or “Is just magic? 

 

I thought it might be interesting to discuss weight loss as a large number of clients come to Ntrance for hypnosis for weight loss. 

 

But does Hypnotherapy Burn Fat?

 

First off, hypnotherapy doesn’t “burn fat”, moving more and eating less does that. 

 

I’ve had clients shed weight easily and rapidly and I’ve had them refuse to change. It comes down to their mental attitude and being willing to change in the end.

Are You Ready For Change?

 

Having said that, hypnotherapy can be amazingly effective and the results tend to be permanent unlike diets.

 

The first part of my hypnotic gastric band process is to allow my client to become aware of their eating and exercise habits. That way they know what needs to change. Then I help them to flip the emotions they associate with food.

 

I know this sounds counter-intuitive but dieting is intrinsically about punishing yourself and overeating is almost inevitably about a habit of seeking self comfort. 

 

Stop Punishing Yourself

 

Eventually you are guaranteed to get sick of punishing yourself and then your will engage in seeking comfort. That’s why diet plans don’t work long term.

 

If that is flipped and the emotions associated with a healthy diet are of positive anticipation then the cycle stops. They feel good about themselves and their progress, they enjoy the food they are eating and over time the urge to comfort eat grows weaker and weaker.

 

This is a simplification of the process and for many people healthy exercise is also part of the plan as energy levels inevitably increase but at its core it’s all about changing attitudes to food.

 

When we see a client we ask them “Do you want to change?” then we ask the harder question “Do you commit to making these changes?” If they say yes then all we do is make it easy for them. In a nutshell that’s weight-loss the guilt-free, easy and rewarding way!

 

Simple right?
