We (son Daniel and myself) attended a great hypnotherapy conference in Auckland a while back, organised by Grant and Karen Bodington of Hypnosis New Zealand. We had some wonderful speakers, and I particularly appreciated the talk given by Avril Carpenter, who specialises in weightloss treatment for women. NZ is ranked as the third heaviest country in the world. “I want to lose weight, can you help” is becoming a very common question for hypnotherapists. Avril was full of wonderful advice to clients “I help you to make peace with food” and “Live the joyful life you truly hunger for”. He talk was packed with humour and excellent hypnotherapy tips.
Daniel, as a relative new comer to the business, found Sheryl Murray’s talk on Business Practice and how to set up a sound practice packed full of useful advice, from how much of your car, phone, house, you could claim against for tax purposes, to how to project a professional image at all times.
Dr Laura Bodington gave a splendid and beautifully illustrated talk on neuroscience 101 and how the brain works. I can’t say I understood every word, but then I am very scientifically challenged!
A most enjoyable part of the conference was the networking, and meeting thirty five dedicated hypnotherapist from all over New Zealand, sharing and swapping stories, getting new ideas, brainstorming and listening to what they were saying.
It was a wonderful experience, so thank you Grant and Karen, for organising this so well. Can’t wait now for the 5 days workshop of intensive learning to be held in November.
